CPI Business Courses will help
you put into practice six strategies that are vital for business
success:
1. Your Organizational
Strategy: The vision of what
your business will become. The mission of your business;
the clear statement of what your business ultimately has to
do to make your vision possible. The planning and fitting
together of the people and activities involved in doing the
work of your business; making sure that the right work is
being done the right way—with the desired results.
2. Your
Sales and Marketing Strategy: The strategy for developing
a cost-effective program for advertising and publicizing your
business, understanding the sales process, prospecting for
new clients, preparing a powerful sales presentation, cultivating
trust and building rapport, overcoming objections, estimating
and workloading, bidding, and closing the sale.
3. Your Administrative
and Financial Management Strategy: The means
by which your business produces the results and the profit
you want. The strategy for developing financial policies
and systems to measure your progress, efficiency, and profitability;
managing your assets, planning for business growth and market
expansion, communicating, persuading, and influencing people;
teaching people in your company how money gets made--and lost--and
what they can do about it; and how to use delegation as a
tool for managing organizational change.
4. Your Human
Resources Strategy: The strategy for hiring, developing,
and keeping the right people; making sure they are committed
to the company mission and understand the purpose of their
work. The strategy for solving the problems you face
because of the unpredictability of your people. The means
for building a team of willing and trained individuals who
are united around a challenging common goal and are empowered
to implement consensus decisions.
5. Your Customer
Service and Quality Management Strategy: The means
by which you can determine what your customers really want,
not what you think they want, and how to fulfill their expectations.
The strategy for giving employees the people skills they need
to handle any situation, avoid complaints, prevent burnout,
and enhance communications. The means for building a
Total Quality Culture by promoting ethics and empowered decision
making and leadership in the workplace.
6. Your Team
Building and Supervision Strategy: The strategy
for building a team of willing and trained individuals with
an increase in productivity and a decrease in stalemates.
The means for developing personal effectiveness, managing
many personalities, and working with groups. The blueprint
for improving your bottom line with the most cost-effective,
time-wise training methods available. The strategy for
empowering employees to do the work and give their best, and
then recognizing them in meaningful ways.

What materials are included, and how
long does it take to complete the courses?
Each course includes
eight workbooks. Some modules include an audio cassette. Workbooks
contain illustrations, graphs, charts, and text written in
easy-to-understand language.
Most workbooks take two
to four hours to read and another two to four hours to complete
the exercises. Depending upon available time, the average
person can complete a workbook in four to eight hours and
an entire course in thirty-two to sixty-four hours spread
over a period of several weeks, usually one or two months.
Since this is a self-directed program, there is no time limit
for completion.
You may request a certificate
upon completion of each course, although participation in
the certificate program is not a requirement for purchase.
To receive a certificate, submit photocopies of the workbook
exercises to: CPI Business Development, PO Box 6350, Portland,
OR 97228-6350 along with a payment of $25.00 for the
certificate.
If you have two or more
managers or supervisors who need training in a specific module
at the same time--and you want to save the cost of purchasing
separate modules for each of them--you may purchase one module
and have your managers or supervisors share the workbooks.
You may want to have them each use a different workbook so
they can be studying at the same time.
One to five days is usually
adequate to finish most workbooks. Participants may
return their workbooks to the person in their company assigned
to direct this learning program and then receive their next
workbooks. The workbooks do not have to be studied in
any specific order. At the end of one or two months
you and your managers and supervisors who are sharing the
same course material will finish at the same time.
You may then meet to decide how you will implement what you
have learned before moving on to another course.
